Charlotte, NCJob Summary and Description:
EPRI International is seeking an experienced International Accountant for a permanent role to support global accounting operations while also contributing hands-on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Finance (App version) expertise for releases, testing, reporting, and process improvements. This role requires strong ownership of complex international accounting activities, including close processes, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, multi-currency transactions, tax and statutory support, audits, and collaboration with external advisors and internal audit. SAP S/4HANA Cloud experience is a key requirement, especially end-to-end testing, UAT, report layouts, finance workflows, and issue resolution. Payroll experience should be limited to reviewing payroll-related journal entries or inputs from external providers as needed and is not a primary requirement. This is a permanent hire position intended for long-term ownership of international accounting processes, SAP S/4HANA Cloud finance support, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Independently manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for multiple international entities.
• Prepare and post complex journal entries, including intercompany transactions, transfer pricing allocations, accruals, foreign currency revaluations, and tax-related entries.
• Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items independently.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations across multiple countries and legal entities.
• Coordinate international corporate income tax, VAT/GST, statutory filing requirements, and audit support with external accounting and tax advisors.
• Support external audits, tax audits, and internal audits, including preparation of supporting schedules, explanations, and documentation.
• Prepare financial analyses, variance explanations, and management reporting for international operations.
• Provide hands-on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Finance support for releases, upgrades, enhancements, and finance process changes.
• Perform end-to-end testing and UAT for SAP S/4HANA Cloud releases, including creation of test scripts, execution of test scenarios, documentation of results, and coordination of defect resolution.
• Develop, review, and maintain SAP report layouts, variants, and output formats to support finance reporting requirements.
• Analyze existing finance processes and recommend workflow improvements, standardization, automation opportunities, and stronger controls.
• Support finance users by troubleshooting SAP-related issues and identifying practical solutions in collaboration with IT and implementation partners.
• Assist with billing, intercompany settlements, cash transfers, banking-related activities, and other finance transactions as needed.
• Review payroll-related journal entries or external payroll provider inputs when required; payroll processing ownership and deep payroll system expertise are not primary requirements.
• Serve as a key finance contact for external auditors, tax advisors, accounting firms, banks, government agencies, IT partners, and internal stakeholders worldwide.
• Document accounting processes, controls, testing results, business requirements, process flows, and user procedures.
• Support special projects and international business initiatives as needed.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required.
• CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of international accounting experience in a multinational environment preferred.
• Required: strong hands-on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Finance experience, including the App version.
• Experience with SAP General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Fixed Assets, Reporting, and finance process workflows.
• Experience supporting SAP releases, upgrades, testing cycles, UAT, defect management, and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong experience with international tax compliance, statutory reporting, external audits, and collaboration with external tax/accounting advisors.
• Experience with multi-currency accounting, foreign exchange transactions, intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, and tax-related journal entries.
• Experience working directly with external accounting firms, tax advisors, auditors, regulatory authorities, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders across countries and time zones.
• Payroll journal entry review experience is helpful but not required as a core skill; end-to-end payroll processing experience should be considered secondary.
Skills and Attributes
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP is required.
• Knowledge of international accounting principles (IFRS) preferred.
• Knowledge of international tax compliance, including corporate tax and VAT/GST requirements is preferred.
• Advanced SAP S/4HANA Cloud Finance skills, with emphasis on the App version, finance testing, report layouts, and process workflows.
• Advanced expertise in complex journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with end-to-end testing, UAT, test script preparation, defect tracking, and release readiness support.
• Ability to improve processes, streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and identify automation opportunities.
• Highly independent self-starter who requires minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and documentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and support international operations across multiple time zones.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Finance, IT, consultants, vendors, external advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Utilize emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and support business objectives.
Ideal Candidate
• A hands-on accounting professional who can quickly integrate into the team, operate independently with limited guidance, manage complex accounting and compliance matters, and effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors worldwide. The ideal candidate brings deep accounting expertise, strong reconciliation and journal entry skills, international tax and statutory reporting knowledge (preferred not required), and advanced SAP S/4HANA Cloud Finance experience, especially App version testing, reporting, workflows, and issue resolution.
